Ruha Benjamin (Ph.D., Sociology, University of California Berkeley, 2008) is Assistant Professor in the Departments of Sociology and African American Studies at Boston University. She researches public health genomics, a field that is quickly gaining favor in developing countries where the goals of creating more efficient health interventions and capitalizing on the global pharmaceutical industry's investment in genetically-tailored drugs has led to interesting developments related to the differentiation of human kinds.
